Xendochial – full version

Oh to be free!Β  To be free to roam the great expanse of the void, the stars and galaxies spinning away from you in all directions, teasing you to engage in the chase!Β  All those super clusters to hone in on, all those stellar clouds to infiltrate, all those worlds to explore!

Yes, there was the pull at the core of one’s being for the familiar sensations of home, but this, this infinity, this was living!

Ymaarmpip had his sights on one blue-green planet in particular, some rock orbiting a middle aged star in the backwaters of a barred-spiral galaxy.

Now this looked promising, there were signs of intelligent life there; an opportunity to show some other species that there were some friends out there in the universe.

I read the longer version but you did a great job getting your story out in 33 words. Nicely done.

  6. Suzanne says:

Both versions are great! Love the idea of a friendly alien heading our way. Hopefully we won’t shoot him out of the sky when he gets here! πŸ˜‰

  7. steph says:

I love that word – though admittedly I had to look it up. It made me smile that the planet is in the ‘backwaters.’ I love the friendly to strangers concept. πŸ™‚

Knowing Earthians, we’ll shoot first and poke the corpse after.

At first I thought the blue green planet was Earth, but then in the full version, he saw promising signs of intelligent life- must be somewhere else πŸ™‚ I like the idea of a friendly alien visit,

  10. This is, as has already been said, awesome. Great job with the prompt.

Warn Ymaarmpip that “not all that glitters is gold”. Some of those creatures are not as nice as they seem. Fun piece.

  12. KymmInBarcelona says:

    Galaxies have backwaters, too?? ugh.

  13. Wonderful, as usual. When is the posting limit? I finished mine, but it was too late to link to the site.
