Human Resources

I imagine most corporations/companies have a department called Human Resources.

Of course, you know what the title of such a department implies; you are not a person, you are a resource.

Sheep herd at The WeirThis distances them from you. It is a lot easier for them to think of getting rid of you, or changing your life, if they think of you as a number instead of being face to face with you.

This seems to be a mentality common to many organisations all over the world, and is not unique to HR departments.

People are complicated and come with emotional attachments, responsibilities etc. Numbers are just numbers, so long as they add up then everything is ok.

Life would be better if ‘Human Resources’ changed to ‘people matters’, and if people actually did matter.
